Do you know what today is? Other than Friday, and the Ides of March, and possibly payday, depending on the payroll schedule at the job you may or may not have? That's right -- it's Haighteration's third birthday.

In honor of the occasion, we'd like to answer a few of the most common questions we've gotten from our readers and commenters. Hopefully you'll get a sense of what it's been like for us over the past three years, and where things might be heading in the year ahead.
How many people work on Haighteration? We've had 32 different writers, about a half dozen photographers, and a handful of miscellaneous helpers over the years. But usually it's just the work of one editor. Is this blog your full-time job? No. How many stories have been published on Haighteration? 1208. Do you read the comments? Every single one. Can I write for Haighteration? Can you write? Yes. Then yes. I don't live in the Lower Haight. Will you start a blog in my neighborhood? Maybe. Stay tuned. I don't live in the Lower Haight. Will you post something about an event I'm hosting in the East Bay? Sure. But we'll have to change the mission of this blog first. Also the name. What makes you think you can speak for the whole neighborhood? We don't think that. Someone is turning a vacant storefront near me into a business which might bring new people into the neighborhood. What should I do? Thank them? I don't care for a certain restaurant. Does it still have a right to exist? Yes. I fear change. That's not a question. I wish things would change. Also not a question. When's Bi-Rite going to open? Come on. How can I find an apartment in the Lower Haight? Prayer and bribery. I see this blog's name on my computer every day, yet I still call it "Haighter Nation." Is that OK? That's more of a question you should be asking yourself. How do I subscribe to this website? Afraid you can't. But you can follow us on Facebook or Twitter, if you're into that. I have something nasty to say about Haighteration and I want you to respond. Ain't nobody got time for that! What's the number one tip you have for someone wanting to start a blog? Write every day. How much longer will you keep doing this? T.B.D. What will keep you doing this for a long time? Investors. What will happen when you move? Why would we go and do a stupid thing like that?
Can't believe we've been doing this for three years. Thanks to everyone for making it bearable. Fun, even.
