CCOP hosting free self-defense class in time for PrideCastro Community on Patrol
Break the Silence. Stop the Violence.The Castro Community on Patrol in association with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence "Stop The Violence" project will be hosting a free self-defense seminar June 22, the weekend before Pride. This Free community self-defense seminar is open to anyone 18 years or older. It's billed as a very low impact, fun, information packed four hours that will offer attendees some tried and tested advice and guidance to avoid trouble, de-escalate situations and attract help and asistance when needed. It will also provide some simple, natural, and easy to use physical defensive technqiues. The seminar will be led by CCOP Vice Chair Ken Craig and patrol member Mike Pierce, both who have experience with the Triangle Marshal Arts Association. The Triangle Martial Arts Association provides quality and affordable training and seminars to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, senior and disabled individuals and their allies, in an atmosphere of equality and diversity. If you want to brush up on your self-defense skills or you're just learning for the first time, meet the CCOP and the Sisters from 12:30-4:30PM at the Eureka Valley Recreation Center on June 22nd.
