Dispatch From the Worst Place in the World
About a year ago, we declared Oak and Scott Laundry the Worst Place in the World. While we stand by that assessment, we have an update to share.

For the first few months of this year, the laundromat at 991 Oak Street was closed without explanation. But a couple of weeks ago, like puffs of smoke from Willy Wonka's factory, signs of life appeared. Suddenly there was newspaper covering the windows, and a notice which reads:
Notice of Application for Laundry Permit TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: NOTICE is hereby given that WASH AND DRY has filed with the Department of Public Health an application for a permit to maintain a LAUNDRY at premises 991 OAK STREET
It appears that either the ownership is changing, or the laundry was previously operating without a proper permit and is getting up to code. Either way, there are some renovations going on inside. Indeed, an electrical permit filed earlier this month reveals plans to install "10 receptacles, 4 lights, 2 switches." So, upgrades. We're not quite ready to rescind this place's crown yet, but at least we now have hope. Stay tuned...
