It's time once again to dip into a sampling of recent submissions from you, our readers.

Reader Stephanie S. alerts us to a recent column by Chuck Nevius in the Chronicle discussing the plight of one Oak Street resident. Two years ago, the city began turning over responsibility for tree maintenance to homeowners. So Bernard Schweigert, who lives on Oak between Steiner and Fillmore, took to pruning two trees in front of his house as best he could. Apparently, though, his pruning wasn't up to the city's standards, and he received a whopping $3,400 fine for his efforts. You can read the whole story here.
Reader Tristan C. tells us of a robbery that occurred in his building last week:
"[M]y downstairs neighbor's apartment was invaded, dude realized someone was home and left. They didn't even know what happened, but a neighbor witnessed and called the cops. Block of Fell between Steiner/Scott. Youngish guy in a gold colored hoodie. Happened at high noon. These guys are brazen! Nothing was taken other than our sense of security."

Over on Twitter, @kirk sent us a photo of the building at Haight and Fillmore, where the scaffolding finally came down yesterday.
Also on Twitter, @rusiski alerted us to a new mural by Zio Ziegler (who you might recognize from this) going up at the corner of Divisadero and Grove:
Finally, Twitterer @geuis asked us for an update on the mailbox at Haight and Fillmore. You may recall that we wrote a story about the mailbox's removal a solid two months ago. Well, this week we checked in with James Wigdel of the USPS to find out why the box still hasn't been replaced. Here's what Wigdel told us via email:
"Here's what's happening with the mailbox -- Our plan is still to replace the damaged box ... the problem is obtaining a replacement. The boxes that we have removed locally are not in good condition, so we are looking for a replacement now. I wish I could give you a time frame, but all I can say is we are doing our best to get another box out there as quickly as possible."

That's it for this edition. If you ever have a question or tip for us, you can reach us via Facebook, Twitter, or email -- tips [at] haighteration {{dot}} com.
