BuzzFeed's Number One of Eighteen Reasons to love Dolores Park
Castro Biscuit staff got up really, really early this morning like many Castro denizens on pins and needles awaiting what we hoped would be a victorious announcement from the US Supreme Court dismantling California's bigoted, Prop. 8 and its federal cousin, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), that never came. Bored and frustrated led to trolling the internet looking for all things 'Castro'-the neighborhood not the Cuban communist leader-when I stumbled upon this: BuzzFeed's 18 Reasons to Love Dolores Park sponsored by the usually cool kids from the politically aware folks over at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream.
I think it's drek.
Now I shouldn't throw stones. I too have been in need of blog filler on occasion-but-BuzzFeed with all its advertisers, big money, popularity and countless contributors seemed to be scraping the bottom of it's endless list making barrel when it came to this sad parody of our infamous '17 Reasons', long-lost, iconic, heading toward the Bay Bridge along 80, 7-UP billboard reference when compiling it's best of Dolores Park list.
I dunno. Maybe I'm being to sensitive. Or cynical. Or pissed that our community just got punked by SCOTUS. Again.
Number #13 of the list really put my teeth on edge. It features a picture of a SF 'celebrity' we're suppose to keep an eye peeled for in the soon to be remodeled and now often over-crowded center of the hipster world that wasn't even actually snapped in the Park.

You decide. I provided the link. Biscuit readers are of above average intelligence and can make their own decisions about its accuracy or hype. I, despite an overwhelming urge to hack the page and just leave uncivilized opinions and witty snark in its place, am moving on out into the grey, wet Monday where a 'it's all up in the air' feeling has filled the hood as we wait for SCOTUS to come to their senses and allow LGBT Americans the equality we're already guaranteed by the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
See you in the streets Thursday.
