The intersection of Hayes and Gough will soon see a couple of improvements that should help both drivers and pedestrians.
First, the SFMTA will be installing new traffic signal equipment at the northeast corner, outside Absinthe. That means "new wiring, conduits, poles, traffic signal controllers, vehicle signals, [and] pedestrian signals with countdown timers." According to the SFMTA:

"The Work is designed to improve safety by seeking to reduce the frequency of right angle collisions, improving right of way assignment for vehicles and pedestrians, and allowing minor side street vehicle and pedestrian traffic to enter or cross the major street with less difficulty."They'll also be installing an ADA-compliant curb ramp at the location. As you can see in the photo above, there is currently a ramp on the Hayes side but not the Gough side. This is one of 17 intersections around the city that the agency will be upgrading, as it features both a public transit line and heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Work on the project should begin soon, with completion on all 16 intersections to be completed by next Spring.
