Lower Haight Leftovers: Fortune Cookie Edition
Here are a few little items that came across our desk this week.

A resident of the 600 block of Oak Street reports that her apartment was the target of a break-in on Wednesday afternoon:
"Luckily none of us were home, but the intruder/s broke a window with an object, scaled part of the building and entered when they knew we were gone. Both SFPD and CSI (SFPD called them in to fingerprint, which was nice) were impressed by just how bold it was. They stole a laptop, jewelry, and other items."
It's a good reminder to check out the SFPD's list of crime prevention tips. And needless to say, if you're the victim of a burglary, or notice suspicious activity at a neighbor's property, go ahead and call 911.
You know how there's an effort underway to create a residential parking permit area near Alamo Square? Well, there's also an effort to oppose it. Some local residents have created a survey to gauge opposition to the plan, while at least one is getting the message across via spray paint:
On Monday night, the Working Draft Writers Club returns to The Mill after hours. If you've got some old-fashioned, non-digital writing you'd like to do, head out to 736 Divisadero and scribble away with some like-minded souls from 9pm to midnight. For background on WDWC, see our story from last month.
This is admittedly short notice, but the Harvey Milk Photo Center has a call for submissions for their upcoming exhibit, "In the Moment." They're asking photographers to "capture the singular, decisive moments in their daily lives with artful, unusual, and inventive interpretations." The only catch is, the deadline is today. So, get snappin'. The exhibit will run from July 12th to September 6th.
And of course, just a reminder that tonight is the Lower Haight Summer Art Walk, from 4pm to 9pm. Get out there and enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighborhood on what's shaping up to be a lovely evening.
