Castro from atop Twin Peaks
The Castro is alive with Summer and the anticipation of all the upcoming LGBT Pride Month events like the 37th Annual SF LGBT Film Festival, Frameline, kicking off at the Castro Theatre (6/20-6/30), the annual SF Radical Faerie Festival, Featopia (6/21-28), 10th Annual Trans March (6/28), Dyke March followed by Pink Saturday (6/29) and of course the 43rd SF LGBTQ Pride March & Festival (6/30).
We may see some extra fireworks at the parade this year after all the controversy around SF Pride's invite/disinvite of Wikileak whistleblower Bradley Manning as Hon. Grand Marshal. Adding to this mix is the upcoming, pins and needles, Day of Decision, when DOMA and Prop 8 will hopefully be struck down by the US Supreme Court. This could be announced as early as Monday 17th. Will Pride be cause to celebrate or rage? All these major events are still in need of support and volunteers. Event pages will have links to each so hit them up and help out.
Of course this is but a small fraction of the events and excitement going on in the Castro in June. Check out our 'Event' page for the latest skinny of what to do. We will update it daily to keep everyone abreast of all the fun there is to be had. To record and keep track of the goings on we've got our cameras out and will try to capture as much as we can. We're also keeping an eye on our Facebook feed of images from the many businesses, organizations and events we follow and like to pull info and images from them as well to keep current. Here are a few of our favorites so far from the first two weeks of June 2013.
