In an effort to keep you informed, but not to inundate you with news of minor robberies, we're rounding up a number of tips we've received about recent crimes in the neighborhood.

A reader is irked by a man who has been wandering Waller Street between Steiner and Pierce on multiple evenings this past week, knocking over trash cans and smashing potted plants. The resident called the police, but so far the neighborhood nuisance remains at large. Another reader tells us that a local market had its door kicked in during a burglary last week. The thieves apparently made off with some cigarettes and little else, oddly. Numerous commenters have recently witnessed or heard of muggings near the intersection of Divisadero and Golden Gate, often by groups of teenagers. Phone snatching seems to be the most common occurrence, as has been the trend around these parts. As we mentioned on Friday, an apartment on the 600 block of Oak Street was broken into by intruders who smashed a window and scaled part of the building. The perps made off with a laptop, jewelry, and other items. Finally, this is not a crime (we think), but a reader tells us that a lost kitty has been sitting at the corner of Waller and Pierce, meowing loudly since about 7am this morning. It doesn't have a collar, and our tipster believes it's an indoor cat that may have escaped from home. If this is your cat, get on over to Pierce and Waller ASAP.
If you're ever the victim or witness of a crime in the area, feel free to let us know -- tips [at] haighteration {{dot}} com. Please call the police first though, obviously.
