UPDATE: Streets in the Castro shutdown due to suspicious package

UPDATE (4:30PM): SFMTA reports that the scene cleared on Market between Castro & Church. F Line & 37 will resume regular routes. UPDATE (4:26PM): People near the scene are reporting that the package was a briefcase and it was found to be full of rocks. Police are packing up now. UPDATE (4:19PM): SFMTA is saying F line is switchbacked at 11th and market. UPDATE (3:40PM): According to a Facebook photo posted by photographer and blogger Mike Enders, the intersection of Market, Sanchez and 15th has been cordoned off.

UPDATE (3:37PM): A photo posted by Aaron Baldwin on Facebook shows that a "bomb robot" is investigating. -------------------------------------------------- The SF Appeal reported first that police have shut down streets in the Castro because of a suspicious package reported around 1:30PM. The package was reportedly discovered on the 2000 block of 15th Street, which conflicts with eye-witness reports that the police were investigating at Chase Bank (2112 15th Street) in the Castro. The area was cordoned off, Officer Albie Esparza said. The SFPD bomb squad was on site to investigate. The incident has disrupted service on San Francisco Municipal Railway’s F-Market line, Muni officials said.
