![A New Barbershop For Divisadero? [Update: Yes]](https://img.hoodline.com/uploads/story/image/5157/351divis.jpg?max-h=442&w=760&fit=crop&crop=faces,center)
A new barbershop is aiming to open at 351 Divisadero, according to a recent permit application.
A tenant called "Comb Right" has applied for a change of use permit to convert the space into a barbershop. Changes include partitioning walls, upgrading the unisex restroom, and installing a new power door opener. This is just the latest twist for 351 Divisadero, which was most recently home to Backspace boutique. Back in March, we noted how a permit had been filed last year to turn the location into a coffeeshop. Those plans never came to fruition, however. Given its history, we'll believe this one when we see it. And then, rest assured, we'll tell you about it. Update 5pm: Well, it's official. This afternoon we heard from Shorty Maniace, the barber behind the permits at 351 Divisadero. Shorty was formerly a barber at Mystic Haircutting at Haight and Gough, and says that opening his own shop has been "a life long dream." Right now his priority is updating the Divis space to be ADA friendly, with a compliant bathroom and ADA accessible front door. Shorty chose the location because, as he put it, "I want to keep it neighborhood as I live in the neighborhood and feel we could use more daytime business." He envisions the space as "warm and inviting" with "good music and talented friendly barbers." A target date hasn't been set yet, but look for the new shop to open in the next few months.
