Sacré bleu! Bastille Day is Sunday!
Given the French presence in our neighborhood, from the French American School to the many many macarons, it's not surprising that there are several B-Day happenings going on this weekend.
Tonight, can-can over to Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell) for their pre-Bastille Day party called Bardot a Go Go. They'll be playing "swinging '60s French pop from the likes of Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, and of course Brigitte Bardot." This all-ages event is $10 to enter, and starts at 9pm. You can buy tickets in advance here. On Sunday, Gourmet & More (141 Gough) is throwing a Bastille Day party of its own. There'll be a "decadent array" of cheese from G&M's cave, charcuterie, macarons, olives, and plenty of French wine and champagne (they just got their new beer and wine license, so they're ready to celebrate). Tickets, which can be purchased in-store or by emailing [email protected], are $60 each, and they're expecting to sell out. Oh, and La Boulange is still carrying their red white and blue macarons (pictured above), which double as both Fourth of July and Bastille Day treats. So if you're going to some sort of French-themed occasion this weekend, you may want to consider picking up a box. Are there any other Francophilic events going on this weekend that you know about? If so, let us know!
