It's Friday night, and the mood is right. Gonna have some fun, show you how it's done, TGIF.
Tonight, Berlin-style ping pong is back at D-Structure (520 Haight). DJ Slikke will be providing "classic party tunes, eclectic '80s and '90s randomness, things you've never heard before, and songs you're embarrassed to admit that you love." The event starts at 8pm, and will cost you $5 at the door.
Also tonight, as we told you yesterday, it's the opening of "In the Moment" at the Harvey Milk Photo Center. There'll be DJs, a photo booth, and plenty of local photography for your enjoyment, from 6pm to 9pm at 50 Scott Street.
Tomorrow (Saturday) morning, if you're interested in making the Panhandle better, head on over for their monthly Community Workday. From 9am to 11am, meet up with fellow neighbors and park lovers to give the Panhandle a thorough cleaning (or as thorough as can be achieved in two hours). Meet at the bulletin board on the Oak Street side of the playground.
In the afternoon, head back to the Harvey Milk Photo Center for that potluck we told you about yesterday. It starts at 1pm.
In the evening, drop by Cafe du Soleil for some live swing, blues, early jazz, and "novelty" music by Lisa Gonick & The Damfino Duo. We're talking "wonderfully listenable and absolutely danceable" tunes involving a ukelele and guitar as well as the human voice. That's 6:30pm to 9pm at Soleil, 200 Fillmore.
Then, head back to D-Structure for a reception for artist Enya Lachman-Curl show, "De-Compositions in Blue." The event will feature all new works by the artist, and is scheduled to runSaturday from 7pm to 11pm. UPDATE: The date of this event has been changed to next Friday, July 19th!
That's all we've got at the moment, but if you know of anything else going on in the neighborhood this weekend, let us know in the comments!
