Like smoke billowing through a probably-not-up-to-code chimney, word quickly spread this afternoon that 705 Divisadero, formerly home to Da' Pitt, will soon be getting a new tenant: 4505 Meats.
The news was reported nearly simultaneously by Tablehopper and Inside Scoop, followed by a press release from the 4505-ers themselves revealing the details. The new restaurant will serve "straight-forward 4505 Meats fare, including The Best Damn Cheeseburger, Barbeque, Sausage, and other meats," complemented by a menu of local beers and wines. In the next few weeks they'll start giving the building a complete makeover, including adding an outdoor patio. The original BBQ pit, however, will be preserved. You may already be familiar with 4505 Meats from its presence just a few feet away, at the Sunday Divisadero Farmer's Markets on Grove Street. They also sell at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market, and have a brick-and-mortar shop on Mission and 15th. 705 Divisadero has been vacant since April, when you'll recall that Da' Pitt got evicted for not paying its rent, among other transgressions. No exact word on when 4505 Meats will open up shop, except for a general "later this year." You know we'll keep an eye on it.
