Like, OMG, it's been a yearbiscuit-logo
The Castro Biscuit 1 year, 401 posts, 350253 page views, 2477 comments, 1265 email subscribers, 1416 Facebook fans, 415 Twitter followers. Wow, time flies. I can't believe it's been a year since I started this blog. I have been very lucky to have gained a regular contributor, Waiyde Palmer who has helped me grow the readership of the blog to a level I didn't expect in just one years time. Our guest contributors have been invaluable as well. Helping to cover events and information happening in the Castro when we could not. They are Liz HighleymanKen WhiteJennifer Morris, and Brian Maier. I know we haven't always been the most accurate, had the best grammar, or been the most timely with news, but we certainly have tried our best to cover the happenings in and around the Castro. We must be doing something right as we now have amazing regular commenters (special shout out to 'rblack'), a growing fan base on Facebook, and a steadily growing Twitter following. I started this blog because every community in San Francisco seemed to have a blog presence except for the Castro. Mission Local and Mission Mission are doing great work with top-notch contributors covering all things Mission. Andrew Dudley has assembled a great blog collective in the Haight and Hayes Valley areas with Haighteration, Uppercasing and Hayes Wire. The Dog Patch and Noe Valley have their blogs, too! I feel humbled to be part of a blog collective that serves the San Francisco community. This blog is only a year old and is just getting started. I have pie-in-the-sky hopes for the Castro Biscuit and couldn't have got here without the help of our readers. You inspire me, challenge me (like whoa!), and validate the need for this site every day. Thank you so much. Saying that, I would like to ask for one thing: I need help I'm looking for contributors on a volunteer basis to help cover news and happenings in the Castro. Right now, the Castro Biscuit is a volunteer operation made up of mostly two people. We hope to be able to pay our writers in the future, but we first need to find a way to generate revenue without plastering the site with advertisements. Contributing could be helping out by doing any of the following:
  • Writing posts
  • Sending us tips
  • Sending us photos
  • Helping man our Twitter account
  • Helping man our Facebook Fan Page
  • Helping us figure out how to generate revenue to pay writers (not interested in making a profit here, just attracting writers)
I appreciate any help you, our readers, can offer. Feel free to make suggestions in the comments section or send a private note to me at [email protected] With that I will leave you with a roundup of our most popular posts/pages of all time: Top 10 Posts of All Time
