Since 2011, American Tripps has been throwing ping pong parties all over San Francisco. Tonight they celebrate their 2-year anniversary with a party at Rickshaw Stop.
It'll feature an LCD Soundsystem cover band (called North American Scum) battling it out with a DJ spinning Daft Punk tunes. There will also be a food truck out front, skeeball and foosball upstairs, and of course, ping pong. The Berlin-style ping pong that American Tripps prefers involves a few dozen people slowly walking around the table. They volley until someone misses, at which point that person is eliminated. This continues until there are just two people left, who then battle it out in a best-of-three game to determine the winner. There's music, and drinking, and it's lots of fun. Tonight's party starts at 8pm, with tickets starting at $6 before 9pm and $8 after. The event is 21+.
