We have updates for you on a couple of eagerly anticipated local business openings. Hint: the word of the day is "delay."
First up is La Urbana. The restaurant and mezcaleria was scheduled to open next Wednesday on the corner of Divisadero and Grove. A rep tells us that "there were some unforeseen construction delays," and the opening is now slated for "around the last week of August / right around Labor Day." Over at Haight and Fillmore, Three Twins and Estela's clearly didn't hit their hoped-for June 1st reopening dates. The ice cream slingers now tell us they should be back in business "around mid September," while we're awaiting word from Estela's on their expected return date. Oh, one other bit of news. We had originally been told that those three storefronts on Fillmore were being consolidated to two. As you can see from the photo above, that is clearly not the case. Jay Lieberman of Meridian Management Group, which manages the building, confirms that there will indeed be a third storefront on the site. The space has yet to be leased. Stay tuned for updates.
