At least two new boot camp classes debuted in Hayes Valley recently, giving you a chance to get outside and get some intense exercise without leaving the neighborhood.

Basic Training began hosting classes in Hayes Valley in April, and can now be found at the Proxy space at Hayes and Octavia. Classes of up to 20 people meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon, performing exercises like jogging, jumping, sprinting, punching, and stretching. Programs run in six-week stretches, but you can join at any point. Drop-ins cost $20, though discounts apply if you pre-pay for 10 classes or more. Meanwhile, a personal trainer named Leandra Rouse just (as in yesterday) started a regular Thursday morning boot camp at Hayes and Buchanan. Called Tune-Up Wellness, the one-hour classes involve both strength and conditioning exercises like push-ups and squats, boxing, barre method, and hill sprints. The classes are $15 each for drop-ins, and run from 6:30am to 7:30am each Thursday morning. All fitness levels are welcome.
