The Dodgers may be bathing in glory after clinching the NL West title, but there's at least one thing we can brag about to our friends down south -- the Polish Consulate has relocated from L.A. to S.F.
We spotted the above sign, reading "Konsulat Polski," on the gates of the Roman Catholic Church at 240 Fell Street today: A little Googling reveals that Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) decided to move the consulate to San Francisco back in December. According to the MFA's website, "the Consulate seat was moved [from Los Angeles] to San Francisco due to the city's position as one of the leading American academic and business hubs, and a breeding ground for new technologies. The new location will help unlock the mission's potential for promoting Poland and its economy." This week, the consulate is holding outreach sessions at the Fell Street location to help Polish citizens apply for passport services -- thus the signage. So, we may not get a World Series title this year, but we're still clearly a world class city. Take that, L.A.
