knife-stabbing-crime---96937441 Amid the multiple shootings happening throughout the city including just outside of the Castro in the Lower Haight and the Mission, reported crimes inside the Castro appear to be down from a few months ago when we were reporting multiple robberies and assaults per week. It's too soon to call this a trend or to attribute it to the multiple safety meetings called for by Castro-area residents this year which put pressure on Mission and Park District Police Stations to step up patrols of the hood, but we are thankful nonetheless. Below is a listing of reported crimes from the SFPD since our last report. 10/19/2013 Robbery/Assault - At around 3AM, the victim, a black male in his 20s, was approached by 6 suspects, 4 black males in their 20s, one black female, and one white male. The victim was walking on Castro Street near 18th when the 6 suspects approached him and took turns kicking and punching him. The suspects took his cell phone and wallet and fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries with pain to the head and ears. 10/11/2013 Hot Prowl - Between midnight and 6:30AM, the victim, a 46 year old white female living around the 700 block of Noe Street, had her laptop, purse, MP3 player, and keys stolen from inside her house. The victim said she had placed her belongings on the kitchen table and awoke the next morning to find them missing. No injuries and no arrests.
