Trees, wine, floods and potlucks, here is a quick rundown of everything happening in the Inner Sunset during the upcoming week.

Community Meeting, Taraval Police Station
November 19th, 7pm - 2345 24th Ave, 
San Francisco, CA 94116. It’s the third Tuesday of the month, which means the Taraval Police Station is holding its monthly Community Meeting. Doors open at seven.
West Sunset Playground Improvement Project
November 20th, 7pm - 3223 Ortega Street @ 39th Ave. Presented by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, this is the second meeting focused on the upcoming renovation of the park at Ortega St. between 39th and 40th Ave. A concept plan will be presented, while attendees are encouraged to offer their input. Recreation and Park Commission Meeting
November 21st, 10am - City Hall Room # 416. The seven member Rec. and Park Department governing board will be meeting to discuss policy concerning the city’s parks, which likely discussion about upcoming changes and improvements to Golden Gate Park.
Mt. Sutro Management Status Report and Draft Environmental Impact Report
November 21st, 6:30pm - 8:30pm - UCSF Millberry Conference Center, Golden Gate Room, 500 Parnassus Avenue. Controversial since its announcement in early 2013, UCSF’s plan to cull large amounts and trees and underbrush on Mt. Sutro will be discussed at this open meeting. UCSF will be presenting their most recent Environmental Reports, along with recent warnings about fire danger by the SF Fire Department. Neighbors and members of the Save Mt. Sutro campaign are sure to be in attendance, making this a great opportunity to hear both sides’ take on the potential fate of a Sunset landmark.
Inner Sunset Neighborhood Emergency Response Team Monthly Meeting
November 21st, 7pm - 8pm - St John of God Church, 1290 5th Ave The Sunset may be safe from liquefaction, but it’s never too soon to start thinking about disaster awareness. Luckily, the Inner Sunset Neighborhood Emergency Response Team will be holding their monthly meeting, featuring a holiday potluck.
Fourth Fridays Art Walk
November 22nd, 6pm - 9pm The Inner Sunset Merchants Association is once again hosting their monthly Art Walk. Check out their website for a full list of participants.
Tree Planting with Friends of the Urban Forest
November 23rd, 9am - 1pm - Location TBD Volunteers are invited to help increase the greenery in the neighborhood with Friends of the Urban Forest. You’ll need to come dressed for dirt and bring your own water, but all tools and instruction will be provided by FUF. A meeting location is still being determined, but you can sign up here.
Greening the Quintara Steps with Friends of the Urban Forest, Nature in the City and AT&T
November 23rd, 9am - 2pm - Quintara Steps, 15h Ave and Quintara  FUF is going to be busy in the sunset with not just one but two events this weekend. If planting trees isn’t your bag, come out to the Quintara Steps to help restore the native habitat of the Hairstreak Butterfly. Once again, no experience necessary, but tools and instruction will be provided, as well as the opportunity to join in a post work potluck lunch. You can sign up here.
Lemon Tree Basics with Garden for the Environment
November 23rd, 10am - 12pm - 7th Ave, Between Kirkham and Lawton. If two free gardening events aren’t enough for you and you’ve got a spare $25 you’re looking to get rid of, sign up for a class with Garden for the Environment and learn the basics of lemon tree planting and cultivation. If you count the eventual lemons it practically pays for itself.
