Victim of Sunday Night Car Collision IdentifiedGoogle Maps
The man struck and killed by a car at the intersection of Market and Octavia Sunday night has been identified.

SF Appeal reports that the victim was 31-year-old Bryan Goodwin, a hearing clerk in the EPA's San Francisco office. Goodwin had been born with a genetic defect called osteogenesis imperfecta which required him to use a wheelchair. He had left a dinner just before midnight Sunday and was attempting to cross the Octavia intersection in his wheelchair in search of a bus when he was struck, according to SF Appeal. A KTVU story on the collision adds that the car appeared to have the right of way as it crossed Market Street and entered the onramp to the 101. The driver stopped after hitting Goodwin, and was cooperating with police. As we noted in January, the intersection of Market and Octavia has been declared the most dangerous in San Francisco. A new traffic camera intending to capture illegal right turns onto Octavia was installed just this past week, though it's not clear yet whether it might have captured footage of this most recent crash. We'll update with more details if and when we get them.
