The holidays equal fun. Special parties and events stacked one on top of the other making it hard to decide which to attend --or-- if you're full of the 'spirit' of the season you just chose to jump in --head first-- and try to do it all. This edition of the Biscuits week end recs run from Sat. to Mon. Rest up Friday. You're gonna need it!
Saturday, Dec. 14th: Expect the Castro to be invaded sometime during the day by a pack of mostly inebriated Santa's and their elfin, reindeer, Christmas tree draped costumed side kicks as SantaCon lands in the Castro. The annual event roams the City starting 11AM. Last year the mob of ho-ho-ho's terrorized ... errr ... visited the Castro around 4PM but as their route isn't set in stone they could show at anytime. Everyone is welcome to participate in SantaCon. Register here to attend.
Parents grab you kids and head over to Books, Inc (2275 Market St.) for Mutha Chucka's annual Holiday Kiddie Storytime. She'll be serving drag joy to all the girls and boys when she lays out 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'. Seating is limited so get there early. This event is FREE!
At 1PM over at the SF LGBT Center (1800 Market St.) a holiday party for 40+ Lesbians/Bi women focusing on health and wellness kicks off. Sponsored by Doing It For Ourselves they'll have a range of activities including a dance, gentle yoga session, games, discussion and/or writing groups, and more. It's FREE just pre-register.
End your Saturday over at the Castro's newest hotspot Beaux (2344 Market St.) with the enchanting Amanda Lepore and special guest UK DJ, and gal pal to the late Amy Winehouse, Jodie Harsh. Ms Lepore is a NYC nightlife fixture and been entertaining the Queer troops with her brand of songs and humor for decades. She's also her own favorite piece of art. She's used her own form to express herself via body modification that's been a topic of conversation since she first began. This pair is sure to cause quite a stir as they blend holiday themed entertainment with cutting edge madness. Doors at 9PM/$5.
Sunday, Dec. 15th: Today it's all about the 5th Annual Santa Skivvie Run. Each year sexy, semi-naked, do gooders line up in front of the Lookout (3600 16th St.) dressed in their finest underwear raising mad cash for the SF AIDS Foundation. Last year nearly 400 participants ran the one mile course through the Castro led by Suppositori 'Spaz' Spelling on a segway raising over $43,000 for the charity. Event entertainment provided by SF Gay Men's Chorus and some surprise guests. Post run hang at the Lookout, warm up and mingle with other skimpy attired participants. There's still time to register so get out that sexy undergear and run for a great cause.
Monday, Dec. 16th: After a hard day at work give back to the Castro and the community by attending the Holiday Wurlitzer Extravaganza Benefit at the Castro Theater (429 Castro St.). Dan Hagerty, the Castro's organist for more than 25 years, initiated this drive to save the organ. This special event will raise much needed funds to buy and upgrade the beloved Castro Wurlitzer. We posted about its plight and Dan's efforts to save the organ in March. Now is the time you can give back and help keep this neighborhood treasure. The festivities include special musical guests. 7:30PM/$20
