A 3-alarm fire broke out at a Victorian on Baker Street last night, leaving two residents with critical burn injuries.

The fire at 618 Baker Street, between Fulton and McAllister, was reported at 8:55pm on Christmas night. According to the Chronicle, the building is a 4-story Victorian, with an in-law unit on the ground floor and a 3-story unit on the floor above. The fire started in the back of the third story, and quickly spread to the rest of the building and damaged the building next door. Firefighters found two occupants of the upstairs unit, described as two men in their 60s, with critical burn injuries. NBC reports that "they were apparently trying to get out but didn't make it on their own." The Chronicle quotes a neighbor as saying that the two injured residents had just completed nearly three years of renovations on the building:

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, getting it under control by 9:39pm. There's no word yet on its cause, the condition of the two victims, or how many other residents were displaced. We'll update this story accordingly.
