Say what you will about the prices around here, the closing of long-time businesses, or the alleged snootiness. It's still a great neighborhood.
But is it the neighborhood of the year?
That's what real estate website Curbed is trying to determine with its annual Curbed Cup competition, in which readers of the site vote for the neighborhood with the most buzz in the year that was. In today's first-round voting, Hayes Valley faces off against Embarcadero. Real estate-wise, Hayes Valley sure had a busy 2013, with no fewer than a dozen new developments in the works. We made it to the final round of last year's Curbed Cup, losing to our neighbors in the Lower Haight. And we can't let that happen again, obviously. So, get out the vote.
