In an unexpected development, it appears that Moishe's Pippic will be closing today after 26 years in business.

Twitter user @rotron alerted us to a sign posted in the window of the deli at 425A Hayes: It reads:
"AFTER 26 YEARS OF BUSINESS, MOISHE'S PIPPIC WILL BE CLOSING ON MONDAY, DECEMBER THE SECOND, 2013 WE ALL WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATRONAGE AND YOUR LOYALTY. IT IS HARD TO SAY GOODBYE AND WE WILL MISS YOU ALL!!!!! THANK YOU!!!"
Yesterday was the deli's 26th anniversary, which may explain the timing of the announcement. But otherwise, no explanation is given for the closure. We'll update as we get more information. Update: Inside Scoop spoke with Moishe's owner Joe Sattler, quoting him as saying "I'm retiring... Saturday was our last day, and life goes on. That's it."
