You're running out of excuses for looking the way you do. Introducing Dolled and Dapper Salon, now open at 320 Fillmore Street, just north of Haight.

Dolled and Dapper is owned by stylists Angelina Pasion and Fionnuala McGarry. The two met at beauty school, and worked side by side for years during stints at Diva International Salon and the Barber Lounge on Folsom, before deciding to open their own salon. 320 Fillmore was most recently home to The Bead Store, but before that, its tenant was Haight Salon, which moved to Valencia Street in 2012. So, the space was already salon-friendly. "We got lucky," Angelina says about finding the space on Craigslist earlier this year. They came to see it, and within a week had a signed lease in hand. They're now settling into their new digs in the Lower Haight. "Everyone has been really welcoming and supportive of small businesses," Angelina says. "We love the neighborhood," Fionnuala adds. "And [the central location] is really convenient for our clients," who will be coming to Dolled and Dapper from all over the city. The atmosphere at Dolled and Dapper is relaxed and cozy. The space is small, featuring just two styling chairs and one shampoo station. They've given it what they call an "old Hollywood glamour look," with photographs of icons like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn on the walls, and Sinatra music setting the mood. The salon serves both men and women, with a variety of services for each. Angelina and Fionnuala want to provide their male customers in particular with a little more pampering than they might find at other salons, but also offer simpler services for guys on the go. The options range from $20 buzzcuts to $40 dry cuts to a $50 full service experience, which includes shampoo and scalp massage as well as a hot towel. Women's cuts run $65, with a variety of extra services and products available. While it technically opened about six weeks ago, Dolled and Dapper will be having its official grand opening party this Friday night at 5:30pm. They'll have drinks, appetizers, and giveaways, plus they'll be raffling off some free services. The party is open to the public, so stop on by if you're so inclined.
