We reported last week that the Pilsner Inn, one of the oldest gay bars in the Castro, was closed for renovations for the past few weeks. Last night the bar opened back up and many folks will be happy to know that not much has changed save for the actual bar itself.

The bar has been completely replaced with wood from a bowling alley lane. The 4"+ thick slabs are covered with resin to protect the wood and make the bar easier to clean and feature all new taps (with the same great beer selection). In addition to the new bar and taps, more accessible and see through beer coolers were installed and should make it easier for patrons to see what the bar has bottled. One of the owners, Pat Conlon (one of three owners for 30+ years), was there this morning when we went in to take photos and said that they had a few more finishing items for the bar, but expect to be done by Saturday. Head in and take a look and have a beer!
