The holiday lights on the big tree at McLaren Lodge on Stanyan will be lit this Thursday.
Thursday at 4pm will be their 84th annual tree lighting celebration at the McLaren Lodge. The tradition started in 1929, when the superintendent of parks, John McLaren, lit a stretch of holiday lights along fell, ending at his home at 501 Stanyan. It's free and open to the public, and there will be lots of goodies for kids and grown-ups alike, including refreshments, train rides, and Santa. The actual tree lighting portion of the festivities will be just after dusk. More info here. No sightings yet of the mystery tree outside B&J's, but we're keeping an eye out.
