Now that it's 2014, here's a list of ongoing projects in the Upper Haight that will carry over from last year.
First up, All You Knead is still boarded over, with no sign on life anywhere. It's been 9 months since they closed up shop. The space that was long ago Pure Beauty at 1560 Haight seems almost ready to roll. We're excited to see what goes in. Still for rent: Bang On's old space. Also still for rent is the weird 825 SF space carved into So Good Jewelry. The plywood came off, and you can see for yourself how tiny the space is. Yet to open: the Mexican restaurant, Urban Taco going into Asqew's old place. Also yet to open: Second Act at what used to be the Red Vic. They'd projected mid-December, but the facade is still up, and Alembic has yet to be expanded. Yet to close? Tikka Masala, which was in the process of closing its locations back in September. The building is still for sale, as far as we can tell. Still taking shape: The Haight Ashbury Public Realm Plan. The Planning Dept. is expected to reveal their plan and the results of their opinion collecting at a meeting in "early 2014." Construction is ongoing at the new site for the French American School. New roof-mounted AT&T "wireless telecommunications services" facilities at Haight & Cole St on top of Earthsong. We'll know more after the hearing on the 16th. The possibility of the Farmer's Market happening all year round! We're waiting for construction to start at Page & Masonic on housing for the developmentally disabled. Likewise, the bicycle-friendly redesign of Masonic has yet to begin taking shape. Last but not least, we predict we'll be reporting on more and more tech shuttles stuck on hills, and more buildings selling for double-digit percentages over asking prices. We can't wait to see what we'll be reporting on that we don't even know about yet. What'd we miss?
