The Panhandle Residents Organization and SAFE (Safety Awareness For Everyone) are hosting a meet-and-greet and meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21 from 6:30 to 8 PM at Bread & Butter Cafe, at the corner of Hayes and Ashbury.
The meeting will be a chance for interested near-Panhandle residents to meet each other and the heads behind PROSF, and to discuss pending issues, projects and problems. The meeting will also host structural engineer David Bonowitz to talk about the mandatory citywide soft story seismic retrofit, which was signed into being last March and which will require all pre-1978 buildings with five or more units and two or more stories built over a wood base level to be retrofitted to new earthquake standards. You'll also be able to meet other Panhandle neighbors to talk about things like Panhandle playground improvements, park construction, and Panhandle community park workdays, the next of which is Saturday, February 8 from 9 to 12 AM. For questions, contact Rose Merryman at prosfneighbors [at] gmail [dot] com.
