Neighbors are sharing a reminder this weekend: keep your door locked, keep your eyes open.
Yesterday afternoon a local resident captured footage of two men attempting to break into her building by jimmying the lock with a strip of plastic. (We didn't know you could still do that!) They were captured on the building's closed circuit security camera. The notice was initially published by someone on the Haight's Nextdoor page, and then broadcast to the Haight Ashbury Improvement Association mailing list. The burglars were scared away and not apprehended, so they're still on the loose. Descriptions of the two men, taken directly from the community notice: One white male, age 30 to 35, medium build in a red winter coat, full beard, jeans, boots and a red backpack; one black male, 50 to 55 years old, thin, in a dark blue shop coat, black jeans and black-and-neon green sneakers. --------------- UPDATE, 4PM: This is the full video captured on CCTV:
