Love It Or Hate It, Valentine's Day Is Coming
Valentine's Day two ways: adored or reviled, Valentine's Day is this Friday. And if you're looking for something special, we're recommending The Floral Loft or Loved to Death, depending on your style.

The Floral Loft at 1871 Hayes is, while technically outside of the Haight, definitely our closest florist of note. Jason Gonzales, one of the proprietors, reminds people to order early. Every year, he says, there's a line out the door, but if you order even a day or two in advance you can pick your orders up without waiting. The Floral Loft also offers paper bouquets, terrariums, orchids, and an array of other ideas to "avoid the dozen red roses they've been receiving from their boyfriends since middle school." The store is also stocking vintage, 1946 Valentine's cards. If flowers aren't your particular kind of love, may we also suggest Loved to Death, the gallery of taxidermy, art and creepy curios at 1681 Haight. Sometimes nothing says "forever" like a small animal skull or preserved rodent. And if, like many, you're foregoing Valentine's Day because it's overplayed, too commercial, or just loathsome, well, just remember to be nice to your neighbors.
