We just received word from the Castro Community Benefit District that Supervisor Scott Wiener will be holding a press conference this Thursday, March 13 at 10:30AM at Jane Warner Plaza (17th and Castro) to officially kick-off construction for the Castro Street Improvement Project. Some surveying and spray painting of the street was started today by Department of Public Works contractors. Crews are scheduled to begin "potholing" work along Castro Street. Potholing is the process of excavating small holes along the project limits to determine as best as possible the exact location of underground utilities. This work will take a few days to complete. Once the potholing work is complete crews will then begin working on the westside of Castro Street. Also, over 4,500 people responded to the decorative crosswalk survey we linked to last month and the results of the survey and the final design winner will be unveiled at the press conference. We'll see you Thursday at Jane Warner Plaza!
