Looks like a new art project is coming to Hayes Street.
We noticed the wall on Hayes Street (between Buchanan and Laguna) had recently been painted over and now displays the words: "Hayes Valley Neighborhood Art Wall Project." Art wall what? We reached out to Madeline Behrens-Brigham, co-founder of the Hayes Valley Art Coalition, to see if she knew what was going on. She let us know they're working with another group to create a collaborative mural featuring several other artists. Applications were due yesterday so they'll be able to move forward soon. She also explained "property owners who get their places tagged often have figured out that a mural often keeps the tagging down." Look out for the new mural below the tennis courts in the next few weeks.
