The San Francisco Opera is having a sale... and it's not exactly what you're thinking.

Located at Van Ness and Grove, directly across from City Hall and on the edge of Hayes Valley, the SF Opera has been operating in San Francisco since 1923. This weekend, they're doing something they've only ever done four times in the past century: put their costumes on sale for you to buy.

According to the SF Opera announcement, "This rare sale will offer hundreds of stylish and exotic items, including hats, masks, fabrics and shoes, as well as handmade costumes spanning a wide variety of styles and periods, for men, women and children."

The costumes will be coming from a few 2013 shows, such as
The Gospel of Mary MagdaleneEugene OneginPelléas et Mélisande, and Don Giovanni. Sounds like there might even be a few pieces by Gianni Versace.

Now's your chance to live out your secret dreams of being one of those people who swashbuckles at Renaissance Faires. Or maybe those are just our dreams. Sorry for projecting.

So how much do opera costumes cost when they're on sale? Anywhere between $1 and $750. Cash or credit only and all proceeds benefit the SF Opera.

The sale takes place this weekend at their SF Opera Scene Shop located at 800 Indiana Street (between 20th & 22nd) in Dogpatch. The K/T or 22 will drop you off within 2 blocks of the store.

They're open for business on Saturday, March 22 (10:30am-5pm, no admittance after 4:30pm) and Sunday, March 23 (10:30am-4pm, no admittance after 3:30pm).

Send us pictures if you get anything. Seriously. We'd love to see it.
