According to a recent study, the highest percentage of tipping at businesses, restaurants, and bars takes place here in Hayes Valley.

Square, the San Francisco based company that helped popularize online payment systems, came out with some interesting data this week.

As reported by SF Weekly, Square published a graphic with all the different neighborhoods in San Francisco and how much tipping takes place in each one. While the information is only limited to businesses that use Square, they provide two categories of data: the percentage of people who tip at a business in that area, and the average tip (%) of the final bill.

Who scores #1 when it comes to the percentage of people who leave a few bucks for their server or staff? That would be us. The 94102 (Hayes Valley and part of the Tenderloin) has 64% of businesses reporting tips being left (on Square), with the average tip being 16% of the bill (the latter also ranking us in the top 20% of neighborhoods).

What do you think? Accurate or misleading? Think the high percentage of tippers is coming more from locals or people visiting our 'hood?
