La Paz Imports Prepares To Close
After six years of business, La Paz Imports is set to close its doors.

Owner Ann Bergin reports that a combination of gradually rising rents and insufficient business have forced her to end her occupancy at 1342 9th Ave between Judah and Irving. Bergin says that this decision has been further influenced by the end of her initial five-year lease with the owner, leaving her in a much more vulnerable month-to-month position. A resident of the Richmond, Bergin discovered the location years ago during one of her regular walks, and decided that it would be a perfect fit for her and her clients’ products. Since then, however, Bergin has come to doubt the resiliency of brick and mortar locations. Though she plans to continue sales through wholesalers, Etsy, and other online locations, Bergin is sad to see the location go. “I’m prepared to move on and find something else,” she says, but the loss is one she clearly feels deeply.
