Art lovers get get to feel a little extra TGIF tonight, as Friday Nights at the de Young get started with a season opening event.
At 5pm, 15 minutes before the museum normally closes, it will be opening its doors wider for an end-of-the-week taste of arty nightlife.
The de Young's Friday Night series, like the Academy of Sciences' Nightlife program, opens up the museum after hours for a special opportunity to hang around with cocktails, enjoy a prix fixe menu at the cafe and experience special events such as dance, music, film screenings, lectures and workshops.
Tonight, you'll have a chance to swing dance to live big band jazz, get your photo taken with a mock Alfred Stieglitz, moon around the free museum center all you want and even hang out in the observation tower until 8pm (hint: that's where you kiss your date).
