Looking for something to nosh on while you celebrate Pi Day?
Whenever we think of Pi Day (March 14 = 3.14 = π = 3.14159265358979...), we think of pie, because, you know, it's delicious. Below are a few places to grab some pie while you honor our favorite circumference-related day of the year.
But first, a quick update on a (not pie but sweets-related) business.
PAPABUBBLE (488 Fell)
Last June, we reported a candy shop was going to move into the space next to Nosa Ria. Papabubble, a Barcelona based candy store that's been open since 2004, has recently put up their sign and looks to be in the midst of interior remodeling. We've reached out to see when they're opening but no word back yet. We'll let you know when we find out.
Okay. Back to pie:
The Pastry Cupboard (1596 Market)
They've got several to choose from (apple, pecan, strawberry rhubarb), but it sounds like many people recommend the blueberry buttermilk pie.
Patxi's (511 Hayes)
Pies don't always have to be sweet. Patxi's is having a "Pi Day Special." Show them you like Patxi's on Facebook and you get their lunch special (slice of pizza, salad, and non-alcoholic beverage) for $3.14 (plus tax). Only applies for carry-out guests between 11am-4pm.
Schulzies Bread Pudding (364 Hayes)
While they don't serve pie in its purest form, they have a few that were once pie like Pecan Pie Pride, Oh My! Boston Creme Pie, and Key Lime to My Heart.
We know we're only scratching the doughy surface. What else should people try?
