Amour Vert, a women’s clothing store that only uses organic and sustainable fabrics, recently announced that they’re opening up a shop in Hayes Valley. The husband-and-wife duo behind the brand, Christoph Frehsee and Linda Balti, shared the news a few days ago at an Earth Day Celebration.

Amour Vert (translation: green love) wants you to have your organic cake and eat it too. As they describe it, you get to wear environmentally-conscious clothes without sacrificing style.

What exactly is “eco-fashion”? It’s putting fashion first but employing “a zero-waste design philosophy.” They make all their ready-to-wear clothes here in the United States and only use organic cotton, silk, recycled polyester, tencel, modal and linen.

If that doesn’t convince you of their environmental priorities, this might: every time someone purchases an Amour Vert t-shirt, they plant a tree in America through their partner organization American Forests. Seriously.

According to their website:

There are many good reasons for planting trees, but the most important for us is that we use wood pulp in the making of some of our garments. This program allows us to directly give back to the environment and to future generations.

They haven’t revealed the specific location yet, but according to Racked, “it will be nearby Juice Shop and Chantal Guillon” and looks to open this summer.
