Looking to get the low-down on some local politics? Marks your calendars for Wednesday, April 30th.

This year, California will be electing new State Assembly representatives. That means that San Francisco's Districts 17 and 19 are up for grabs.

District 17, which includes the eastern half of San Francisco and was formerly represented by Democrat Tom Ammiano, will definitively be changing hands when Ammiano retires on December 1.

Next Wednesday from 7:30pm8:30pm at the Park Branch Library on Page St., you have a chance to hear a candidate debate between David Chiu (D) and David Campos (D), both current San Francisco District Supervisors (Districts 3 and 9, respectively).

Campos and Chiu will be at the library to discuss platform issues, answer questions, and compare policy point-by-point.

The third District 17 candidate for 2014 is Republican David Carlos Salaverry, who will not be present at the debate.

The debate is co-sponsored by the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council, the District 5 Democratic Club, the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association, PRO-SF and the Cathedral Hill Neighbors.
