Lower Haight Weekend Planner: 4/24Lisa Congdon
It's the freakin' weekend, almost.  Here are a few items for your social calendar.

Tonight, Rare Device (600 Divisadero) hosts a launch party for local illustrator Lisa Congdon's new book, "Whatever You Are, Be A Good One."  The book includes 100 inspirational quotes (including the one above) hand-lettered by Congdon.  There'll be wine, cookies, and of course a book signing, from 6pm to 8pm.

Saturday morning between 9am to 1pm, head up the hill a bit and take part in a Buena Vista Park cleanup.  Lord knows there's plenty to clean up round those parts.  Meet at Waller and Buena Vista West; bring your own gloves, pruners, and appropriate footwear.

Then, in the afternoon, head over to Upper Playground (220 Fillmore), where artist Jeremy Fish will be signing copies of his new book, "Happily Ever After."  Fish will be on hand from 3pm to 6pm.

Saturday is also the day for the 7th annual Dogfest in Duboce Park.  From 11am to 4pm, enjoy games, food, music, a raffle, a dog show, and more.  Proceeds benefit McKinley Elementary School.

Finally, remember back in January, when we told you that 4x5 Gallery (442 Haight) was seeking photo submissions on the theme of "home?" Well, the juried show, appropriately titled "Home," was unveiled last weekend.  Swing by the gallery any day between noon and 6pm to check it out.

As always, whatever you do this weekend, enjoy it.
