Another Lower Haight Art Walk is in the books, but how successful it was is up for debate.
The daytime start tends to lead to a more mellow vibe, and yesterday was no exception. On some blocks, with no live music or large crowds walking the Walk, you might not have even known an event was happening.
Merchants we talked to in the late afternoon reported mixed results. One shop owner said he had had lots of extra traffic, while another described the day's business activity as "weird." Meanwhile, a restaurant host told us they had seen a steady but not huge flow of customers throughout the day.
As usual, things picked up at night, as businesses like Edo and DSF threw evening art receptions starting at 7pm. But with the Art Walk itself officially ending at 7pm, we're left wondering if a daytime Art Walk is even necessary, or if they should just stick to the evening versions.
So, as usual, we want to hear from you. Did you attend, or choose not to? Any impressions from the event, or suggestions for making it better? Let us know in the comments.
