What's up this weekend in the Haight?
First, as of this posting there are about 50 people lined up (above) down the block in front of FTC Skate Shop at 1632 Haight Street. The reason, as you might have guessed: a limited edition Air Jordans release. The shoes retail at $150, a mere pittance in the limited-edition sneaker world. The folks in line said they had to get there last night to secure a spot. The shoes, if you were wondering, are a Nike SB / Air Jordan 1 endeavor with skateboarder Lance Mountain. They look like this:

Then, later this afternoon from 2pm to 4, Amoeba will be hosting a 30th anniversary (gasp) party to celebrate Purple Rain, the inimitable musical that launched Prince's career. DJs include Nero Nava. Oh yes, and Happy Birthday to you too, Prince.
Last but certainly not least, don't forget that tomorrow, Sunday June 8th is the Haight Ashbury Street Fair, and it's supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny, so put your smiley-face on. In addition to the typical plethora of stalls and vendors at the fair, which will include local merchants and your typical cheap-bedding-and-chicken-teriyaki-style San Francisco street fair offerings, there will be live music.
