Did you know there's a community garden right here in the Lower Haight? Well, there is. And you're invited to drop by today.

It's all part of the SF Rec and Park Department's first ever Open Gardens Day, in which 21 community gardens around the city are opening their gates to the public "for enjoyment and education."

The Page Street Community Garden at 438 Page (between Webster and Buchanan) is normally locked to all but its members, and there's a multi-year wait list to get a plot. So, now's your chance to get inside and see what all the fuss is about.

The garden will be open from 10am to 2pm today. And, from noon onward, the garden is hosting its annual Garden Party, including a barbecue, music, and activities for kids like face painting and succulent planting. Children, green thumbs, and other interested parties are all welcome to join in the fun, so get over to the Page Street garden while the getting's good.
