Headed To Hayes Valley: Warby Parker?Warpy Parker's new Atlanta location (Warby Parker/Facebook)
Last month, we noted five of Hayes Valley's most eligible vacant storefronts and wondered what would be up next for the empty retail spots. In the case of the former Quatrine furniture showroom at 355-357 Hayes, it looks like we may now have an idea as to what's due up, as all signs point to a brick-and-mortar location of popular online eyeglass emporium Warby Parker.

According to building permits filed, the New York-based Warby Parker is attached to plans for the Hayes Street space, which include $800,000 in interior renovations, from new finishes and lighting to a new employee break room and ADA-compliant bathroom.

Though representatives at Warby Parker kept mum when we reached out for confirmation, the company is now hiring for an upcoming San Francisco location and is seeking store leaders, sales supervisors, opticians and more—further evidence that a permanent retail space is on the way.

San Francisco would seem like a natural fit for the company, which hosted a mini showroom at the Perish Trust on Divisadero for a time, as well as making a stop in Hayes Valley on its schoolbus-turned-showroom tour last year.

But although Warby Parker has toyed with semi-permanent pop-ups in the past, it seems that the company is now in a fast-moving expansion phase, with both Los Angeles and Atlanta brick-and-mortar outposts opening up in the last month alone. Will the Hayes Street storefront be next on their list? We'll keep you posted.
