It's Friday, and that means another roundup of the tastiest tidbits of neighborhood news left over from the week that was.
There always seems to be something arty going on in the neighborhood, and tonight is no exception. At 6:30pm, head over to Life Chiropractic for a showcase of local artist Rhonel Roberts. "Art, refreshments and conversation" are in the offing, and all new patients who sign up for chiropractic care at the event will receive a voucher for $150 towards their initial visit. If you've had a rough week, perhaps some art and an adjustment are just what the chiropractor ordered?
On the neighborhood food beat, there's plenty of news afoot at Souvla, which debuts brunch service tomorrow morning at 11am. Though the brunch menu isn't up on Souvla's website yet, we've got the menu here. Dishes will include an open-face pita with grilled halloumi cheese, Greek loukaniko sausage, and eggs, a breakfast burrito-like "lamb and eggs" wrap, and a French toast made with deep-fried, sugared pita topped with frozen Greek yogurt and sour cherry syrup.
Souvla has also recently debuted take-home rotisserie chicken. Feta-brined and free-range, these fowl will set you back $20 each, and are available on a limited basis, 6pm until sold out. So if you're planning an easy Friday night dinner tonight, swing by on your way home from work for a poultry pick-me-up.
With that said, if you're eating right now, you just might choke on the latest condo news out of Linea. Socketsite reports that the building at Market and Buchanan has seen a couple of notable condo flips in the few months since it's been on the market, including one unit which flipped for $145,000 over what was initially paid, and another with a flip that now approaches $1,266 per square foot. So, sounds like some early speculators are now skipping their way to the bank.
As a quick palate cleanser, here's a rundown on some of the city's hidden murals, one of which, a Herakut number, is located right behind Flax Art & Design.
