Are you back at the grind (or, perhaps, The Grind) after a nice long break? Wondering what you need to know about the current state of the neighborhood? Read on, friend.

First up, Gallery 683 closed on Christmas Eve, and the store's contents are now being emptied out. The space at 683 Haight won't be vacant for long; across-the-street neighbor Cove will be taking over the location, opening some time in February.

The Animal House (pictured above) has now reopened at 157 Fillmore. The shop was closed for several days following a Christmas Day scare in which a car with apparent brake failure plowed into the side of the building. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Also reopened is Memphis Minnie's (576 Haight), which suffered a smokestack malfunction a few days ago but has since fixed the issue.

Love Haight Computers (473A Haight) has been closed for an expansion, but is scheduled to reopen today.

Renovation activity continues at the former homes of Greenburger's (518 Haight) and Cuco's (488 Haight), as they make way for Nara and Emanuel Coffee, respectively.

Work also continues at Black Sands (701 Haight), which may not yet be pouring beer, but has at least poured a new concrete floor.

The SF Found show at Glass Key Photo (442 Haight), which was scheduled to close tomorrow, has been extended

It's the final days for P-KOK Eden, which is slated to close at the end of this week at 776 Haight.

A car drove into the Sunset Tunnel at Duboce and Noe on Saturday night, briefly disrupting N-Judah service. Muni ran shuttle buses until the car was cleared from the tracks.

And lastly, a reader who wishes to remain anonymous tipped us to a single gunshot she heard on Potomac Street on Saturday night. It appears that a bullet went through the wheel of a neighbor's car:

We don't have any other details on this one yet, but it's not the first gunfire-at-a-car-on-Potomac story we've told around these parts.

So, that's your Lower Haight landscape for early 2015.
