As Sunday night's Academy Awards show approaches, there's plenty to do in and around the Castro.

First, though, we'd first like to note that the stage at The Edge has been dedicated to Cookie Dough, "San Francisco's nicest drag queen." "We have humbly renamed our modest stage at The Edge after Cookie Dough," the Edge posted on Facebook. "We hope Cookie is smiling down upon all of us."

Whether you're out celebrating Cookie Dough's memory, or just looking for some fun, here's what to do in and around the neighborhood this weekend:

Friday, February 20th

Sing Along Little Mermaid
Go "under the sea" all weekend at the Castro Theatre and sing along to the Little Mermaid. Hosted by Sara Moore, audience members in attendance at the event will receive a goody bag to encourage participation. Each performance will start with an introduction allowing for you to warm up your vocal chords, and the lyrics for each song will be displayed on the screen just in case you’ve forgotten some of the words over the years. (Castro Theatre, 429 Castro St., all weekend, $16 general/ $11 kids & seniors)

Manimal Friday Night
Andrew Christian go-go hunks Murray Swanby and Sean Zevran will be in town from LA to get your Friday night going with EDM, Top 40, and hip-hop remixes from resident DJ Ms. Jackson. Starting at 8pm, Beaux will also be celebrating Cody Rovella, 2015's Mr. Gay California United States, before he heads off to Virginia in March to compete for Mr Gay United States.(Beaux, 2344 Market St., 9pm, No cover before 10pm)

Mother: Ladies of the Silver Screen
Spend the evening getting ready for the Oscar with this tribute to the ladies of the silver screen. Hosted by Heklina and Fauxnique, along with many other performances, this is sure to be a fun evening of campy entertainment in honor of the ladies of Hollywood. Keeping the party going will be music from DJ Guy Ruben. (Oasis, 298 11th St. , 10pm, $10/"in drag gets you in free")

Hard
“Chewed up and spit out your Valentine already?” Then get HARD on Saturday night at Qbar with electro dance pop beats from DJ Haute Toddy. (Qbar, 456 Castro St., 9pm, No cover before 10pm)

Sunday, February 22nd:

Jock Sunday
Spend Sunday afternoon overlooking the Castro from the Lookout in support of the San Francisco Women's Flag Football League at Jock Sundays. (Lookout, 3600 16th St., 3pm, $2 cover benefiting LGBT sports)

Academy of Friends
Watch the Oscars in style at the 35th Annual Academy of Friends Gala A Century of Radiance, benefiting HIV/AIDS services in the Bay Area. Held at the Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center, partiers can enjoy food from the finest Bay Area restaurants and caterers, wine, champagne, living gold statues (pictured above) ... and a new wax statue of Neil Patrick Harris. "Through our annual Academy Awards Night Gala, we have raised over $8,690,000 to support more than 73 HIV/AIDS service organizations," according to the organization. (Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center, 101 Henry Adams St., 5pm, $250/$300 door)
